How Can You Afford to be a Rotary Exchange Student?

Being able to afford an 11 month international exchange is more than achievable with careful planning, work and commitment by the student and with the support of the student’s parent(s). The Rotary Exchange Financial Worksheet can assist in that planning process.

-
Begin by thinking about the total expenses of the 11 month exchange as compared to the costs of supporting a high school student living at home, such as car insurance premiums, any after school activity fees and normal weekly expenses of food, clothing, normal weekend activities and any holiday expenses.
-
Calculate the total projected expenses of the 11 month exchange including in-country orientation, travel opportunities and optional programs
-
Identify multiple possible income sources to fund the exchange including student savings, student earnings from working, holiday money gifts and family support.
